Battery Park City Authority Streetscape and Security Project involved the re-examination of 12 blocks of the mixed-use neighborhood to improve pedestrian safety and comfort as well as rising national security concerns in the aftermath of 9/11. The project involved comprehensive analysis and planning of traffic, transportation, security, public amenities, community uses, maintenance, and operations. Design thinking led to a strategy that created concealed security measures integrated into the urban fabric with public amenities. Design work recognized neighborhood environmental guidelines and pursued stringent sustainability requirements. Long-term maintenance strategies were integrated into planting, water management, and material replacement
Project planned and designed while at Rogers Marvel Architects.
